super simple handmade business cards

Happy Monday, friends!

If you have an Etsy or Big Cartel shop, you probably have heard how important branding is to your business.

In short, to brand your company is to define your product’s (and shop’s) “personality” through your logo, business cards, shop set up, etc. Branding is actively deciding what you want people to think and feel when they come across your shop; good branding distinguishes your shop from all the others out there.

In this vein, I decided I needed something more creative than the run-of-the-mill business cards I’d been using to package up my orders….so I came up with these….

Yep, that’s right. Twine-wrapped business cards. For a little bit of work, you can make a BIG impression on your customers and clients.

Materials Needed:
Twine
cardstock
labels (I used Avery brand)

Step 1: Cut your cardstock down to desired size (feel free to play with shapes here-wouldn’t square or even circle business cards be fun?)
Next, print out your labels. I printed mine so that I could wrap the discount part of the label onto the back of my card (these cards will be going out with shop orders).

Step 2: Wrap labels around your cards.

Step 3: Take your twine (I cut 13″ lengths of twine)  and, using a drop of hot glue on the back of your card, wrap the twine around the card and secure with glue.

I love, love, love how these turned out. Thanks to The Twinery’s high-quality twine and my printer, they are a huge step up from the mass-produced cards I previously had.

Do you own a handmade business? Do your business cards/promotional materials reflect your product? If not, what are you waiting for?
