Ceiling Tile Bulletin Board {A Tutorial}

Hey guys! Megan here from The Preppy Planner with my first guest post for Burlap+Blue.  Twice a month I will be sharing with you some great home decoration tutorials that I have created and am sure you will love! Today I have an easy DIY on how to create your own ceiling tile bulletin board. I have made so many of these and love seeing how creative I can get when it comes to the design.

To make your own ceiling tile bulletin board you will need:

– a 24 in x 24 in ceiling tile (find these at any Lowe’s or Home Depot)

– a drill

– a ruler

– paint

– brushes

– ribbon

– a pencil

– craft glue (optional)

Step 1: Drill two holes into the ceiling tile about 16 inches apart and 3-4 inches from the top. I marked the two spots where I drilled on the back of the tile in pencil before drilling the holes. This is what the ribbon will be threaded through to hang your creation so just make sure the holes are big enough for your ribbon to go through.

Step 2: Painting!! You can paint whatever design you wish on your board. I painted a pink pinstripe on mine and customized it with a green monogram. (You will find that I love monogramming and customizing just about everything I own.) If you don’t want to free hand a design you can first draw your picture in pencil and then paint over the pencil lines.

Step 3: After you have finished painting your board, take your ribbon and thread it through the holes you drilled earlier. I found that threading the ribbon from the front of the board to the back pushes any ceiling tile dust to the back and doesn’t get your ribbon too dusty.

Step 4: Once you have threaded the ribbon through tie your bow or knot. If you want, squirt some craft glue into the knot for some extra hold. Once the glue dries you are ready to hang up your new bulletin board!

For some more design inspiration here are some other boards that I have made as gifts for others.

xoxo
