WARMTH

It’s almost Fall, which means warm sweaters, boots, pumpkin-spice everything and, for all of us home decor fans, time to add some warmth and coziness to our surroundings. Today, I’m sharing 5 inexpensive ways to add warmth to your home, just in time for the changing seasons…

cozy living space

1. Think about your lighting.
Bright overhead lights can be harsh; using lamps instead can create a softer effect and add a warm glow to your space. Also, think about adding (and using!) candles to cozy up your space.

2. Add items that tell a story.
Cozy and warm homes have a story to tell. They’re collected over time and contain items that have meaning to the people who live in them. Letters and postcards, cherished collections, souvenirs from travels, all of these things add charm and personality to a home.

3. Bring the outdoors in.
Adding natural elements to your home is a simple way to add coziness to your surroundings. Plants, terrariums, branches, leaves and pinecones can add organic texture and an earthy feel without breaking the bank.

4. Bring in Autumnal patterns.
Herringbone, tweed, plaid…bringing in small doses of these “warmer” patterns can help add a cozy feel to your home. Pillows, blankets, picture frames and small rugs are easy ways to add pattern and warmth.

5. Add vintage or upcycled pieces.
Whether it’s antique mason jars, vintage crockery, or an upcycled treasure, pieces with a past are inherently more character-filled and warm than pieces you picked up brand new. Consider thrift stores, antique fairs and estate sales to find these weathered gems.
