Sharpie Mugs are so easy, no art skills required!
Using Sharpie Paint Pens, I’ll show you how to create three different Sharpie mugs, plus share some free printable gift tags!
I am always on the lookout for fun and easy Sharpies Art ideas, and when I get to discover and create with new crafting supplies at the same time, all the better!
Looking for an easy, last-minute gift for my kids’ teachers, I decided on making some DIY mugs with Sharpie’s new oil-based paint markers.
I’m sharing the how-to below, plus some free printable gift tags. Just fill the mug with a plant or flowers, attach the printable tag, and you’ve got a fun gift that any teacher would love!
Sharpie Oil-Based Paint Markers work on almost any surface, dry quickly, and are resistant to fading, water, and abrasion.
They’re AP certified, xylene free and come in a variety of colors and widths. I found mine at Michaels, and decided on the gold, silver, and pink for my mugs.
Be sure to check your local newspaper and online for Michaels coupons (while supplies last).
I also love my Michaels mobile app coupons and sale notifications!
To create these easy mugs, just wash and dry your white mugs (to remove any oils from them), and paint on your designs.
I am notoriously bad at hand-drawing, so know that if I can do this, anyone can. I created a feather pattern (so, so easy!), a vine pattern, and a dot pattern, none of which took more than 10 minutes.
The mugs were dry as soon as I was done painting. I added a potted plant to each, and a gift tag I created especially for my kids’ teachers…
To get your own “thank you for helping me bloom” gift tag, just download here, print out on 4×6 photo paper, trim and hang!
I LOVE how these turned out, and I know my kids’ teachers will, too!

Oh, thanks for sharing. My son came home from school with a mug he decorated with Sharpies as a Mother's Day gift; it even had a pretty flower planted in it. He asked me to find a mug that he could make this summer as a gift for Daddy, too. I had no idea there were such colorful and glittery options for Sharpie marker packs. Great Sharpie Gifting idea!

Can you customize the labels with your own idea, e.g. "Bloom where you are planted"?
