Is Taco Tuesday a thing in your household? It sure is in ours. We all love tacos, whether it’s traditional beef tacos, fish tacos, chicken tacos, or these slow cooker carnitas tacos. The fact that you make these in the slow cooker saves you time and effort; start them in the morning and they’ll be ready for dinner!
In a hectic and fast-paced holiday season, home-cooked meals can fall by the wayside. Intentionally gathering my family around the table, and preparing a healthy and delicious meal, is one way of taking back control of this busy season and remembering what’s really important.
With this in mind, I went to Food Lion to purchase a Smithfield Marinared Fresh
Smithfield Marinated 100% Fresh Pork is a delicious, easy meal solution, that brings “Real Flavor Real Fast” to your dinner table. It is available in Loin Filets, Tenderloins, and Roasts across a variety of flavors.
It’s hard to even call this a “recipe”, because it was just so easy. I put my Smithfield Seasoned Carnitas into my slow cooker and added 1/2 cup of water. I cooked it on low for 6 hours, until it was fork tender and shredded easily.

I love that Smithfield Marinated Fresh Pork is slow-marinated and seasoned right in the bag. Being able to put the Smithfield Seasoned Carnitas into the slow cooker and not have to worry about it is exactly my idea of the perfect dinner, especially during this busy time of year.
Once the pork is shredded, just bring it to the table along with your toppings. In addition to the Avocado Cilantro Dressing, we shredded a block of queso, put out pico de gallo, cilantro, extra lime slices and dinner was served.

I bought the Smithfield pork carnitas in a slow cooker. The meat was tender and juicy and looked really good but after tasting it has way to much cumin or maybe a different one that was overpowering. Disappointed but I will try covering it with BBQ sauce or salsa. It Was very easy to throw in the slow cooker. I hope they adjust seasonings because I think it a great idea.

"With this in mind, I went to Food Lion to purchase a Smithfield Marinared Fresh Pork: Boneless Pork Shoulder Seasoned Carnitas, and had a yummy dinner on the table in under 30 minutes!"
Above is lead in to article, but later it says...
"Place Carnitas in slow cooker, and cook on low for 6 hours,"
I love Smithfield's Carnitas and serve it often. I purchase several at a time and freeze them.
But I think the 30 minute line is very misleading.
