As the back-to-school season kicks off, there’s no better way to celebrate than by spending quality time in the kitchen with your kids. Baking together allows for creativity and family bonding while teaching valuable skills. From simple cookies to savory treats, this guide has a list of fun and easy recipes that will delight kids and parents alike!

  1. Delicious Dutch Oven Bread

Start by gathering your ingredients, which include three cups of all-purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon of instant yeast, 1 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1 1/2 cups of warm water. Combine the flour, yeast, and salt in a large bowl. Pour in the warm water and mix until a shaggy dough forms. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.

After the door rises, preheat your oven to 450°F. Place your Dutch oven, including the lid, in the oven to heat up for 30 minutes. While it’s heating, turn shape dough into a ball on a floured.

Carefully remove the Dutch oven and place the dough inside. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the lid and bake for 15 more minutes until the bread is golden brown. Let it cool before slicing and enjoying this homemade delight with your kids.

  1. Colorful Fruit Muffins

Line a muffin tin with paper liners and heat your oven to 375°F. Whisk together two cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of sugar, one tablespoon of baking powder, and a half teaspoon of salt in a large bowl.

In a separate bowl, combine one cup of milk, half of a cup of vegetable oil, and one teaspoon of vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry inoneredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in one cup of diced mixed fruits, such as strawberries, blueberries, and peaches.

When you prepare the muffins, carefully use a spoon to fill the batter into the muffin tin, making sure that each cup is filled about two-thirds full. Bake the muffins for 18 to 20 minutes, then let them cool. These delightful fruit muffins are not only delicious but also a great way to involve children in baking and get them to appreciate eating fruits.

  1. Funfetti Sugar Cookies

To create these scrumptious cookies, heat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl, blend a cup of softened butter and a cup of granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. Then, add one egg and one teaspoon of vanilla extract, and combine well. In a different bowl, whisk together two and a half cups of all-purpose flour, a half teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.

Next, gently fold in a half cup of rainbow sprinkles. Scoop the dough onto your baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced about two inches apart, then flatten each ball a bit with the bottom of a glass. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.

These Funfetti sugar cookies are ideal for any celebration and will surely bring smiles to your kids’ faces.

  1. Mini Pizzas

To make delicious mini pizzas with your little ones, preheat your oven to 400°F. Grab some English muffins and split them in half, laying them on a baking sheet and spreading pizza sauce on each muffin half.

Next, add shredded cheese over the sauce. Then, let your kids choose toppings like pepperoni, diced bell peppers, sliced olives, sliced mushrooms, olives, and pineapple chunks.

Once the toppings are in place, bake the mini pizzas for about 10 to 12 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let them cool slightly before serving. These mini pizzas are fun to make and provide a great way to involve your kids in the kitchen, let them create their personalized meals, and show them that they are capable of making delicious food.
