Summer may be winding down, but there’s still plenty of time to squeeze every bit of warm-weather fun out of the season. For our family, that means spending lots of time playing outdoors, eating outdoors and, more importantly, grilling outdoors!
My husband, especially, loves to fire up the grill on weekends. Inspired by a pack of Smithfield® Extra Tender Fresh Pork St. Louis Style Spareribs that I picked up during the week, we wanted to create a spicy, smoky, and slightly sweet dry rub recipe that would pair well with our Smithfield ribs.
We created our rub (recipe card below), applied it to the ribs, lit the grill, and, a few hours later, enjoyed the fruits of our labor. Smithfield Extra Tender Fresh Pork Ribs contain no artificial ingredients, and are “Pitmaster Preferred”. No matter your grilling experience level, though, (I’m definitely a novice), they’ll turn out tender and be sure to impress your guests no matter the occasion.
Ribs are one of the quintessential summertime foods in our opinion, and we loved how these turned out. You can get a $1.00 off Food Lion coupon on Smithfield Extra Tender Ribs here!

You can also take a disposable aluminum pan, fill with about a quart of apple juice, and place on your coals to help add moisture and additional flavor to your ribs.
While the ribs were cooking, I decided to make an easy side dish to accompany our meal. This Jalapeno Cream Cheese Corn recipe comes together quickly, is inexpensive, cooks in the crockpot, and is done in as little as two hours!

This is the Everyday Seasoning I referenced in the recipe. We love this and use it on everything, but a seasoning salt would work as well!
I’d love to know: what is your family doing to enjoy these last few weeks of summer?
Thanks for reading all about my favorite dry rub recipe for ribs. Have a fantastic day!
