Blogger income reports are becoming so popular.
People love reading about how their favorite blogs make money, and many bloggers themselves read them to help inspire their own income streams.
We’ve never shared one on burlap+blue before, but I get asked all the time about how you can make money with amateur blogging and what works best for us. So today, I’m sharing our income and expenses for last month-August 2018.
Please take into account, though, that every month is different. Income can vary GREATLY from one month to the next, due to a number of factors.
Also, keep in mind that I’ve been blogging for about a decade now. I’ve had a LOT of time to figure out what works, how to grow my blog, and determine how my blogging time is best spent.
Now, with all the disclaimers out of the way, here are the numbers…
Income-August 2018
Mediavine– $3,627.86
Sponsored Posts-$1090.00
Amazon Affiliate-$62.17
Hometalk-$21.79
Total-$4801.82
After a lot of trial and error, I started about two years ago with Mediavine for my ads and I couldn’t be happier. I share all about my experience with Mediavine in this post, but suffice it to say, having them manage my ads has been one of my best blogging decisions ever.
Again, I can’t stress enough that all of my income streams vary a lot month to month. Ads, sponsored posts, affiliate income…it all changes, all the time.
While the actual income from Hometalk looks low, they do send a LOT of traffic my way, which helps my ad revenue. I share here How to Increase Blog Traffic with Hometalk. If you’re a blogger, it’s worth taking a look!
Expenses-August 2018
BigScoots Hosting– $65.00
Google Drive -$9.99
iMark Interactive-$27.00
Total-$101.99
As my traffic has increased, so have my hosting needs. I switched to BigScoots maybe a year ago and I have no regrets. Their customer service is truly top-notch. I go to them for hosting issues, as well as general blog/Wordpress issues, and there’s been nothing they haven’t been able to take care of for me.
Grayson, at iMark Interactive, is another who helps make this whole blogging thing possible. He takes care of backups, but also is there for blog tweaks/edits.
I trust him and his expertise completely and recommend him to anyone I know who is in need of some WordPress help. He’s helped me numerous times, with issues big and small, and I’m so thankful to have him in my virtual corner.
