I’m a huge fan of using garlands in my home décor…and this colorful, mod podged spool garland, with it’s bright colors, is perfect for (the end of) Summer! Here’s what you need to make one of your own….
Materials:
Mod Podge
wooden spools (I got mine from Hobby Lobby)
scrapbook paper
twine or ribbon for hanging
Step 1: Cut your scrapbook paper to fit your spools. My spools came in a pack of 20, and I used 16 of them to make my garland. Just a note, scrapbook paper works better than cardstock for this…it’s thinner and more flexible and attaches more easily to the spools. Have some tissue paper or wrapping paper you’d like to use for this project? Go ahead-both would work great!
Step 2: Take a foam brush and add a coat of Mod Podge to one of your spools. Take one of your strips of paper and wind it around the spool. Repeat for each of your spools.
Step 3: Once dry, add one or more coats of Mod Podge to each spool. Let dry.
Step 4: String your spools onto your twine (I used paper twine for my garland).
You’re done! I LOVE how this turned out. How cute would it be hanging in a nursery? Or a craft space? Endless possibilities.
Have a fabulous day, friends!
