Yesterday, we celebrated Nora’s baptism (hard to believe she’s almost 6 months old!) and had a luncheon here at our house afterwards for friends and family. We kept the décor simple; two young kids just doesn’t allow for elaborate affairs around here.
I did want to add a few small touches to make the occasion special, though, and these pom pom balloons did the trick! I was lucky enough to borrow the tissue paper poms from a very dear friend, but there are many tutorials around if you want to make some yourself, like this one from hgtv.
But back to the balloons. All I did was take regular balloons, a hot glue gun (lowest setting possible), and white mini poms, which you can find at any craft store. Since my glue gun only has one setting, what I did was place a tiny drop of hot glue on one pom, blew it a bit to cool it off a touch, and placed it onto the balloon.
It worked well and, once I got started, only took a couple of minutes per balloon. If I recall correctly, I think the original idea for these came from Design Improvised….love how she used glitter pom poms for hers!
It’s a tiny touch, but added a definite fun factor to otherwise plain balloons. I can envision combining different colors of balloons and pom poms to go with any theme imaginable.
Have a lovely day!
