A popsicle stick picture frame is a super easy and fun DIY craft idea! Make these for gifts or add a string to turn them into Christmas ornaments!
In our quest for creative and easy kids crafts to make, I often forget that the simplest projects are often the best.
These easy popsicle stick picture frames definitely fall into that category.
Depending on how elaborate you want to get with your frames, you only need as little as three supplies!
Today, I’m showing you how to make this easy gift idea, and sharing some ways to decorate them so no two are the same!
How to Make a Popsicle Stick Picture Frame
These popsicle stick frames are so versatile! Use what you have, but if you’re looking to purchase supplies for this craft, here’s what I used for mine:
Large Colored Popsicle Sticks
Glitter Mod Podge
Mini Clothespin
Confetti, Buttons, Beads, Pom Poms etc. to Decorate
Of course, you can use non-colored popsicle sticks and paint them (or leave them plain)!
I used the wide popsicle sticks, but you can use the normal, more narrow sized popsicle sticks as well.
As you can see in the picture above, I planned on attaching some paper confetti to the frames, but I actually really loved the look of the frames with only the glitter Mod Podge, so I left them as is.
Next, I’ll share some ideas for decorating popsicle stick photo frames, and then I’ll share the super easy how to!

Popsicle Stick Picture Frame {An Easy Popsicle Stick Craft}
A popsicle stick picture frame is a super easy and fun DIY craft idea!
Make these for gifts or add a string to turn them into Christmas ornaments!
Materials
- Popsicle Sticks
- Mini Clothespins
- Small Piece of Cardboard, Smaller than Finished Frame
- Magnets
- Glitter Mod Podge
Tools
- Hot Glue
Instructions
- Decide on the number of popsicle sticks you want to use. I did this visually by arranging them in a row until I was happy with the size. For these jumbo popsicle sticks, I used seven. You will probably want to use more if you are using the regular sized popsicle sticks.
- Take your piece of cardboard (slightly smaller than your arrangement), and cover it with hot glue. Immediately place your popsicle sticks on the cardboard, securing them in place.
- Cover the front of your frame with glitter Mod Podge. Let dry completely. Decorate your frame with other materials, if desired.
- Glue your clothespin onto the front of your frame.
- If using magnets, glue to the back of your frame. Otherwise, you can hot glue a length of twine or ribbon onto the back of your frame for easy hanging.
- Add a picture, and you're done!
It’s a simple as that!
You can make a bunch of these in just half an hour to give as gifts to grandparents, friends and neighbors.
