Window Safety Tips

As a parent, there are so many decisions regarding safety that we need to make for our kids. Our job is to always stay one ahead, and provide a safe, healthy environment for our little ones to thrive.

I’ve never paid much attention to the safety risks inherent in window treatments (for both children and pets), which is why I’m pleased to be partnering with Smith & Noble to share some window safety tips you can implement for your family. You can download their full safety guide , but I wanted to highlight a couple of the tips here as well.

Go cordless when you can. Cordless treatments are safest for homes with young children and pets.
If you have corded treatments, make sure pull cords are as short as possible and out of reach of young children.
Move beds and other climbable surfaces out of the reach of windows and window treatments.

Here’s the window before:

Previously, we’ve had an inexpensive shade in the window held up with a tension rod, but because of the shallow depth of the window, the tension rod often fell off the window, taking the shade with it. Not ideal.

As much as anything, though, I was impressed at how quickly and easily the new shade went up. Oftentimes, these seemingly small projects end up being a huge ordeal, not this time, though…
