Yep-there’s no turning back now! The two walls that separated our kitchen from our living and dining spaces are gone. This is only phase 1 of about a million, but it’s a huge step in the right direction. Here’s the before…
…and the after:
So far I’m cautiously optimistic about our progress. We have a few big decisions left going forward, but, it looks like the floors are staying and we’ll create a transition between the cork flooring and the hardwoods. They’ll be an L-shaped cabinet/countertop at the left corner where the cork and hardwoods meet. We debated an island, but think this solution will work best, as well as define the kitchen space a bit.
Biggest surprises so far? Finding Something That May Have Been a Squirrel and Something That May Have Been a Mouse in the first wall my husband tore down. Eew. Also?
No doorways = no place to hang Little One’s Jenny Jumper! It’s her favorite place to hang out in the mornings while we do breakfast, so to say I’m missing it is an understatement:)
Oh well, I’m sure they’ll be many more surprises along the way-I’ll be sure to keep you all posted!
xoxo
